Chapter 6 THe Holidays Makers

Within a short period of three years most of the orchards were maturing and bearing fruits.First to bear were the papayas, the oranges in the lower land areas together with the pameloes.Then the "Jambu Air" (Indonesian Madu and Siamese varieties)),the guevas,the star fruits and the rambutans to name a few,plus many others.

Fragrance coconut and those of MAPA trees were also fruiting.These coconut lined the both sides of the entrance road to the bungalow of the farm.Part of the front boundaries were also planted with them.These coconuts especially the fragrance coco nuts served as excellent refresher drinks and also was a good thirst quencher.Over-ripened coconuts need not be sole because these ripe nuts were excellent food for the chickens.All he has to do was to split the nuts on the spot and chickens will feed on them automatically.These really fattened the chickens further.

Teddy had a fantastically busy time wrapping up with wrappers, those which could possibly be attacked by fruit flies.Most of the workers concentrated in these jobs but still insufficient and further recruited.Wrappers were simply old newspapers.All these were definitely extra work because all the fruits must be treated such to induce a good harvest.

Oranges and rambutan need not be wrapped up.Only weekly spraying of insecticides and fungicides were sufficient.Some clonal Durians were also bearing flowers as well.His "kapala" was doing a excellent job supervising all the workers wrapping all those fruits. Actually not all the fruits lets were wrapped up,for the tiny ones were discarded from the bunches which possess many fruit lets.Many a times the workers could not made their mind which to pluck away so the "kapala" advised was sort after.

This Ah Chan was an extremely hard worker,first to come in and last to go.She did a fantastic job wrapping those fruits.One fine windy as she felt the cool breeze blowing she took off her scarf reviewing her warm and rosy smiling beautiful face.Teddy was then near her saw that unbelievable lovely face that enchanted him, stirring his heart and within that instance response to grab her, holding her tightly kissing her inviting lips intensely.

That moved surprised her and she tried to push him away but he was too strong .In the thrillers and excitements that followed she responded and they fell on the ground and within seconds it was all over.Fortunately workers were out of sight.She although a married woman was now already his lover.

That affair came to pass and all the work in the farm continued as normal with nothing amiss.The female Boss was happy with the farm and with fruits getting ripe she planned out a big holiday with her family and immediate friends.Teddy had to have the bungalow in cleaned conditions.

The Boss had planned to stay there for a week.Teddy was instructed to get all things including food for her and friends.On that day she arrived in a car with her three children,followed by her friends in another car.Surprisingly her husband was not present and her friends,all five of them all females her aged.

Teddy greeted them at the bungalow."What have you prepared for us for to-night's dinner?",asked the Boss."But what do you want?",inquired Teddy."Well,first for to-day,you do what you think fitting for us,to-morrow we decide later,okay?',replied the Boss."Okay,what ever you say",said Teddy.

He then instructed his cook to prepare first wild chicken curry,fried chickens,fried vegetables and streamed chicken soup.All the guests enjoyed that lovely dinner,praising Teddy for excellent service rendered.For soft drinks he had fragrance coconuts all well trimmed for all.Having enjoyed their dinner,the guests and Boss then settled down to a game of mahjong.Teddy was told not to pluck any fruits back as yet,for all the guests waited to harvest them themselves directly from the trees the following day.

Teddy went on to please his guests with he roasting of a wild boar for supper.The cook was assisting him to roll the wild boar at stake.What a lovely barbecue.It was already at about 9.30 p.mp. and all the guests were invited to share the fantastic meal.What a supper.Teddy had taken the trouble to teach the cook to slide the meat the meat thinly,this made the meat to taste better.His source also made the difference.

Everyone apparently enjoyed that roast pork.That evening the dark night was windy due to impending rainfall,so expecting rain there were no plans for other activities.All ate well,eating and talking all night and before long all were retired and went to bed.Teddy and cook had to clean and clear up the mess thereafter.As it was late Teddy had to provide transport for the cook home.

Next day everyone woke up extremely early so did Teddy.That morning the cook had not come in yet but the Boss herself prepared the breakfast for everyone present including Teddy's.At the breakfast table all were eager to venture into the farm to get a first hand look and help themselves at the fruits trees.

No sooner had they finished eating the Boss instructed Teddy to get the jeep ready to transport them into the fields.Was that necessary? No,indeed as the group was too big,so the Boss said,"I think we better walk around and plucked as we go round,better exercise for all."."All right",all shouted in excitements.

"Got to wear long sleeves clothing,huh?".said one of the ladies."No,no need",said the Boss."No mosquitoes",replied the Boss."Come,come let us get started".she continued.And all followed her with Teddy leading the pack.

Their first stop was a rambutan tree which was full of red rambutans,all the kids and the guests rushed up to the tree and began plucking at will as many ripe fruits as they can because the fruits were quite low.Teddy got them a stick with cutter to harvest those further up. The next tree was another tree with yellow rambutans.

One guest asked,"Hai,Teddy why that tree 's rambuatan yellow in color?""Oh that is another clone,and the red one is named "Anak Sekolah",a Thai clone"."Wah! all very "luckang" and very sweet".said one."Of course.lah you know who is the Boss?",said Teddy."What has it to do with the Boss?',said another.

"Well",replied Teddy, "she paid me to plant That why?"."No lah,just joking",said Teddy."Hahaha very funny",said the Boss.All laughed.Next they came across some papaya trees and they were many ripe fruits on those trees and also within reached.All rushed up and enjoyed plucking the ripe ones.

The Boss's son plucked a huge papaya and shouted out loud,"Look here I have the biggest papaya"."No,no,Auntie Yong's bigger",said another son.All laughed especially the Boss,"Yeah, Auntie Yong surely got the biggest papaya among us".All the adults laughed."Don't be ridiculous cracking a bad joke in front of kids."no.no,I actually meant the papaya you are holding nothing sinister about that?",replied the Boss.

Teddy stood quietly without making any comment and pretended not to have overheard those women arguing about their papayas.He brought a knife along and cut up two of the papayas so all can have a taste of them.He also arranged for a worker to carry the extra back to the bungalow.

They next went near to a Durian tree where it was fruiting at the age of three.the tree was full of durians and they took photographs with some of them standing near and holding the durians on the tree."hopefully some will drop within these few days and you all can enjoy some ripe fruits,otherwise I sent them to you all next time when they are ripe.Few other trees were similarly like that.

No durians but he still can deliver them some other durian called durian "belanda" or sour sop.He went and harvested a few ripe ones for them,he also cut one for them to taste on the spot."Eah,very sour and juicy.actually quite nice",said the Boss.Along the boundary were some ripe pineapples which he also harvested for them.Those women dared not touch or even go near the pineapples because of its thorny leaves.Teddy instructed two female workers to follow along with another bigger basket to carry the fruits harvested.

When they arrived at the few trees of "guaves" and "jambu air,all were happy plucking its fruits and tasting them almost immediately.Very big nice and juicy "guavas" and they harvested many of them.Before long they had a big basket full of fruits and all seemingly tired the Boss suggested they call it a day.With half a day of fun all were already tired so they returned to the bungalow.

Tea was served followed by lunch ,all prepared by Teddy's cook.Being hungry all of them rushed to the table as soon as laid out.Teddy had cleverly arranged stream chickens,roasted chickens and ducks and also vegetables from the farm.A bowl of chicken soup for each one of them.What heavy lunch?Finally they were also served with a coconut, drinking directly from the nuts with some using straws.

Teddy left them alone after lunch to attend to his job.Some workers had also collected back some mangoes , Namgka and Chempadak back to the bungalow.As the fruits were fully ripe the sweet smell were every where."mama,when can we eat those fruits?"asked a son of the Boss."Tonight,tonight we tell Teddy to cut them up",replied the Boss."Hurrah,to night we eat those smelly fruits",exclaimed the son.

Come evening Mrs.Yong was fishing in the nearby fishing ponds.Teddy on seeing her went near to her."So you are a fishing enthusiast?Well,very good I like fishing,too"said Teddy.She replied with a pretty and attractive smile,but was unduly interrupted by a sudden jerked of the fishing rod,"yes.yes I got a big bite",retorted Mrs.Yong and she struggled with all her might to haul in the fish.

The fish seemingly very strong and gave an aggressive fight back as she tried to reel her home but to no avail as she was tiring fast she yelled out to Teddy to assist her,"Help me please will you?".Initially Teddy dared not go near her but since she had requested he rushed in to help her.When Teddy wanted take away her rod she did not bulged and insisted on Teddy helping her by holding the rod with him standing engulfing around her,thus in an awkward embarrassing position.

She sensing Teddy of feeling shy shouted at him ,"Well,don't just grape me but help me".With that teddy struggled with her to bring the fish in.Of course with Teddy's assistance the fish was fished to the land without much difficulties.Teddy's face blushed fully red as the fish was landed.Yes they landed that big "haruan"or snake head in a very compromising position just like two lovers.

Teddy held her so tight so much so he could smell her woman smell and those aroma of expensive perfumes.What an encounter?She on the other hand also felt the loveliness to be held so tightly until she was almost breathless,by a younger man.Well,she loved every moment of it.

With the fish up both took the fish,they breathing very hard and blowing hot air smiled lovingly at each other.He slowly gave a her a warm pat on her shoulder making sign to her to call it a day.At home she shouted "To night we have a big fish for dinner.I caught it",she claimed to the rest who were indulged in a mahjong game,"yes she caught that fish,what shall we do with it?",asked Teddy.

"Steamed or otherwise.Anyway may I suggest that sliced it into thin layers and then fried it with sliced young ginger and lots of shallots",he said."Aaya,do what you think fit,lah",said the Boss.Mrs.Yong nob in agreement.

That night after dinner Teddy cut up the "Nangka"or jackfruit,as it was of a good clone the fruits within were huge in size.Consuming two seeds or three was already filling.Tomorrow morning for breakfast we will be having deep frying of the "chempadak",a smaller version of jackfruit.

Supper of sweet pea soup was served as they chat away into the night.One of the ladies suggested that they go hunting one of those evening and Teddy agreed to arrange for it.Teddy's guard,the "Orang Asli" had a gun so no big deal as they were going to hunt within the farm.Without hesitation the guard was called in.

Teddy wanted to hunt with immediate effect but most of those interested were never ready for it except the Boss.Somehow another of her guest followed them.THe guard was at the wheel while Teddy was with those two ladies.They had a rough round but found nothing worth shooting.The round really gave Rosie a feeling what to expect in hunting.After the round without any shooting Rosie was not happy saying,:Come tomorrow ,we will be well prepared for the hunting."
