Chapter 11 The Sales of Chickens

Under the care of Teddy the chickens have multiplied many folds and soon it was time to reduce their numbers. Many of the chickens had to be sold. Before that Teddy had to select out those mother hens and cockerels for future breeding,he had to be sure of his own stock.

The cross breeding from the wild fowls also made his breed of chicken stronger and tasted better,a secret he had adhere not long ago. With this new breed he was expected to fetch a better pricing.Something he could afford to boast about for quite a while.

So the first two days he and his head worker make a very tough selection and marked up all those to retain as stock.Although much of his chicks were hatched in his incubators many were still hatched with the mother chickens to lead the chicks round the fields. With his strict selection many healthy chickens were thus retained to build up his flock.

All his chickens were never housed in cages, all rested on low branches of fruit trees
during the night and to catch them was definitely an extremely difficult task but never with Teddy for he had them all well planned.Teddy had a huge fenced up area for the feeding of his chicks,so well fenced up that no chickens once inside can never escape accept through its main entrance.Flying out was also cut off with top wire netting.

The fencing were also reinforced with thicker gauge wire netting even wild animals such as wild boars should they be trapped within could never think of escaping.Teddy made sure that most of his chickens returned to feed in that surrounded enclosure. For there were always fixed time for feeding and he seldom closed the main entrance so as to frighten those chickens.Only when trapping them for sales or for medical treatments that he set to trap all within his cage.

The day many of those chickens had to be captured and sold came.Chicken feed were laid out in the fenced up area to attract as many chicks into it.Just like any normal days the chickens were fed that way.Very soon the fenced up area were full of chickens.Suddenly the main entrance was closed and the catching began.

Three of his workers went into the cage and began their catching. That frightened many chickens and they began flying all over the fenced area. They could never fly out either as the top was also covered up with netting. The salable ones caught and put into cages while those to be retained as breeders were let off from the fenced areas.

Very soon all were over with many chicken caught and caged. Those cages were then stored under a shady place waiting for the buyer to come to collect them. The fence area was further opened and more grains added into the it.After some hours more chickens returned to the fenced areas to feed and a second catching was done. Not only those domesticated birds were captured wild fowls were also caught. The wild birds were not for sales but for own consumption.

The Boss Rosie came by as they were counting the chickens. She appeared pleased with what Teddy and his workers had captured. The chicken were were fed and extremely healthy and making a lot of noise while caged in,but to no avail for there was no much space for them to move about.

A total of over five hundred birds were captured, very good for a start. The buyer came in and offered $ 10/= per chick.Teddy was not pleased with that and she countered offer the buyer "What?, 10/= per chicken.Oh no not that is cheap. My chickens are very beautiful birds and big and therefore I accept nothing less than 12/= per chicken, take it or leave it".

The Buyer without hesitation agreed and accepted the offer. She was smart for he knew that this was not going to be the first time they do business and there will be more to come.and they have a contract to her at reasonable pricing although not fixed. The term was cash payment for all sales or no deal.Rosie agreed to this.

"Anyway when can I come back again for more chickens?",asked the buyer.Teddy looking at his Boss replied sometime next month and thereafter you can come weekly maybe.Be prepared to buy three hundred of the chickens each time you come".Rosie looked at Teddy with surprises,"Are you sure you can deliver that amount of birds?".Yeah... I am positive",replied Teddy. All the workers nob in agreement. That pleased the Boss very much.

"What about the chicken eggs?",asked the buyer."Well maybe later but not at this moment",said Teddy."I can give you 18/= per wild chicken, can you sell them to me?" asked the buyer."No use selling you these chickens because they will surely die on transit back to your home.I can sell you only slaughtered birds, that way you have all the birds".

"There are no way you can have alive in cages, they will surely die along the way",said Teddy.Teddy looking at the Boss further said,"No sales this time all were reserved for the Boss",That pleased the Boss tremendously.

There were also some ducks which Teddy ready disposed to the buyer. There were a hundred of them.Teddy then asked the buyer whether he had a market for rabbits."Rabbits? "he said not a big market for it,"but I will let you know later".
Breeding rabbit is quite easy but there was not a huge market for it,for people were never used to consuming such a lovely creature.

The buyer loaded all those cages of chicken on to his pickup and left.Rosie the Boss was pleased with that sales.Well at least some money is coming in from sales of chickens.

As lunch was ready, all cooked by a new cook.Teddy followed the Boss Rosie to her bungalow.Teddy passed over the cash he had collected to the Boss.Lunch was served and over lunch they discussed about the farm."The curry chicken is very nice and hot, your new cook seem to be very good",asked the Boss.

"Really don't know what she can do,well should she perform well I keep her otherwise I changed her",said Teddy. With the lunch laid out they both began enjoying the food served."Oh,lovely wild chicken curry, seem to be good, let me taste it first",said Rosie scooping a spoonful of it and splashed it over her rice. Then she ate the rice.

"Wah,taste really good,Teddy,I think she is going to be alright",said Rosie.Teddy joined her to taste that curry and nob in a agreement. The new cook watch from behind the kitchen smiled at her success. She peeped at the ways they consumed her other preparations as they appeared quite pleased.

While eating Teddy suggested to Rosie that he was going to begin fish raising in fibre-glass tanks initially on a trail basis later should that be successful to venture fully into it.Her Boss agreed with his idea immediately."I can still pour in further capital if that is what your required",said Rosie.

"No,no,not at the moment maybe when we succeed we may have to,very later I think",said Teddy.Further he told Rosie he was going expand her breeding of chickens so as to generate more income for the farm and Rosie again nob in agreement.Teddy was very pleased that his Boss had agreed with his suggestions.

With lunch over they rested at the sitting room and talking happily. The sexy Rosie was very happy and showing off her mental now that they were finally alone with no others around.Quietly the voluptuous Rosie slowly pressed herself against Teddy, kissing him slowly. He responded to her advances and then pinned her down on the sofa. They kissed and kissed.then Teddy kissed her neck followed by her massive boobs.Without fail he held the hard and pressed on.

Soon he relieved her of her pants and before she could pushed him away he was already hers .That was it,they engaged in a very streamy affair.IT lasted several minutes. He was sweating profusely all over with big drops of sweat dropping over her.SHe too was sweating. With that about to be over she took Teddy's T shirt to wipe off his sweat and then hers. What a had a lovely encounter for that day.She had always eyed Teddy and now no doubt about it he belongs to her.

As they laid side by side on the sofa, she whispered sweet something into his ears,"I loved you and will not let you go".
"Me,too"came the reply."Marry me,I love you so much I cannot lt you go",again Teddy said."No not now maybe later, you must wait for me,can you?" asked Rosie."surely I will",replied Teddy.

The Boss only returned to town that evening, thereafter promising to see him again within three days, leaving Teddy to his work.By then all the workers had left the farm.He took a drive around the farm checking all round the farm.By then his Asli guard was already at he guard house.Having nothing more to do Teddy told the guard that he felt like hunting that night and the guard agreed.

The guard was ready by 9.00 p.m and armed with a blow -pie and his shot gun, waited for Teddy to come out. That evening the sky was dark with no moon above, rain clouds hanged above. The farm was very very quiet accept the cries of insects and at times a cry or two from the owls.Just he was about to leave his house the phone rang."Hello", he said. A female voice rang out from the end,it was Susan's."I miss you, darling, can I come to see you tomorrow evening?",she asked.

"Oh sweet heart, sure, you can come tomorrow evening,I will have your dinner set, okay?",he asked."Well, that will be very nice of you.In any case I will bring in something for supper, just in case", she said and then after hang up.A delighted Teddy continue out for the hunting,he was armed with a cross bow which he had newly acquired.

"What a cross bow???"inquired the Asli,"can shoot or not?".Surely can, you will see",he said to him in Malay.Initially Teddy did the driving round the farm with the guard ready with the shot gun in position to shot any animals he came by.At the same moment the guard was also shinning his touch light on the side left side of the farm's road.

After a short distance the guard tapped the top of the jeep beckoning Teddy to slow down, while he steady his torch on two green eyes on the top a durian tree.At the same time took aim at them and shot the animal between the eyes."Bang" and the animal came tumbling down from the branch with a "tup" sound as it landed on the ground.

Teddy stopped to pick up the shot animal. It was a "musang" (a fox).Further down the road the guard shot another similar species of animal. On coming near the rambutan patch they noticed that the tree were infested by flying foxes, crawling and feeding feverishly on the just ripened fruits.Immediately both of them got down.Teddy soon found a flying fox feeding on a rambutan hanging on to its branches. With his bow and arrow he took aim. When on target he let off a shot.

The shot hit the bat with such velocity that it gave a loud cry and fell almost immediately to the ground breathless. The guard on the hand fired a shot at another. It hit it alright but the wounded bat flew off and came down a short distance away. That disturbed the others around and many began to spread its wings to begin flying away.Somehow the guard managed to give another shot and then another.

His shots met its target but as normal the bats fell down some distance away.Altogether many shot were fired, thus causing many unwounded ones to fly away.Teddy could not administer another shot with his bow and arrow as all the targets were now moving and flying about. He could have let off another shot or so but with every miss he might loose the arrow and he had limited supply of arrows left.Retrieving loose arrows were forever difficult.

With all flying foxes escaped it was time to locate the shot flying foxes. It was an audacious job locating them, nevertheless they managed to only collect about five of them back. The search was over leaving some wounded flying foxes hiding behind branches, there was no way they could escape as they could be collected back by workers the following morning.

That left the place with Teddy instructing the guard to return the following night to shot all existing flying foxes should they come in again for the rambutan.Next the guard took over the wheel with Teddy as the one to hold the gun at the back of the jeep.

Towards the end of the farm,Teddy saw a group of wild boar and with the jeep slowing down he took aim at the wild boar with his cross bow.He was greedy for he aimed at the biggest of the group and let off a shot.He was a sharp shooter indeed and his shot went right on target. The poor boar gave a loud cry and ran but only to a short distance before it collapsed, dead. The rest of the herd spread out and escaped into the darkness of the night.

Satisfied with his hunting trip Teddy called it a day. However the night was not over as there after he and the guard had to cut up those shot animals. To cut short their night Teddy instructed the guard to remove the inner parts of all those animals and then secured them in the Cold box he had.The inner parts which were edible were also remove and packed into bags and store similarly in the cold box.The wild boar head and intestines were taken away by the guard.

When it was all over it was already 2.00 a.m.Being very tired he retired into his bed without wasting any further time.
